“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the lord will take
                       care of me.” –Psalm 27:10

Late again! Why must Abby always be late! I thought to myself checking the clock on the brown wooden wall. I sighed and stretched my arms out as far as I could. Then I slouched down in my desk and pulled out the current book I was reading; the bible. That was the only book we could ever read here in Salem Town; the only one.
I was in Sunday school at the moment, yep, Sunday school. Everyday, five hours, 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
“Even watching paint dry would be more interesting than this.” I said under my breath, my head tilted sideways, my right hand supporting it, and my face in my beloved book. Beloved? Yeah, right!
“Cindy! Matthew 6:9, now,” My mother scolded. “You will not purposely offend our father!”
I rolled my eyes, but of course did so when she turned away and bowed my head to pray.
”Our Father in heaven, hallowed by your name; your kingdom come, you will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us of our debts; as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen,” I looked up at mother. “There, all better?”
“Yes,” Mother said. “You may go play with your friends now.”
I smiled at her, glad to be done for the day and walked out of The First Church of Salem. I smelt the glory of fresh air and began rolling around in the grass.
“Free! Free at last,” I cried. I walked over to a bush of daisies to hug them. “Daisies, Beautiful, beautiful daisies, oh how I love thee!” I cried. I sounded as if I were in prison for a life time!
”Uh, a little demented are we?”
I froze in place. My eyes widened. Oh no! I thought to myself. I turned around slowly, still holding a couple of flowers. Please don’t act like a ninny! I begged myself.
“Oh! Uh, hi… Jonathan,” I said in more of a whisper. I looked down and started to pet my hair. Aw man Cindy! I told you not to act like a ninny! “What brings you here?”
“Cid, I walk down here everyday…are you ill?” He asked laughing slightly.
“Uh…” That was all I could manage to say. I knew that I had a speech impediment! I knew it!
“Oookay, see you Cid!” He called out, waving as he walked past me.
“B-bye!” I said, waving, though not daring to turn around.
I slapped myself in the face. Why must I act so dumb!
***
Yes, target spotted! Attack…now! I ran through the groups of people shopping at the market to reach it. I accidentally bumped my elbow into an elderly lady, whoops!
“Sorry!” I shouted.
Almost there!
“Boo!” I shouted, sneaking up on my friend, Abigail, or as she preferred to be called, Abby.
“Ah,” She cried turning to face me. “Oh my gosh! Cid! You almost gave me a heart attack!” She cried, clutching her chest.
I laughed; she gave me a dirty look.
“Where’s Liz?” I asked peering around the crowded market.
“Getting candy, what else would you think she was up to?
I searched through Mrs. Gridley’s candy booth. Oh, there she is. I thought to myself. Blonde hair down to her shoulders, freckles, blue eyes; yep, got to be her. She was gazing at all of the different candies with the weirdest look on her face.
“Oh, I see her,” I told Abby. I gazed at her for a moment. “How come you weren’t in Sunday school?”
“Sunday school, are you kidding me,” Abby cried. “There is no way I’m spending five hours in there!”
“Abby, you can get into a lot of trouble for doing that!” I scolded.
“Yeah, big trouble!” Elizabeth or Lizzie replied as she chewed on her new gum.
Abby glared at her. “You weren’t there either!”
Lizzie shrugged since she couldn’t talk due to all of the gum that she added in her mouth.
“Well…whatever,” I said. “Listen, I need to get home now, it’s about time for supper and if I’m late to say grace-“
I drew my finger swiftly across my throat. “-I’m as good as dead!”
***
Oh fiddlesticks! They’re already eating! I thought to myself peering over into the kitchen. My five-year-old sister Lawny was a little less talkative than usual and my mother, wearing a frown on her face, was eating slowly with her head down. My father was…wait…were was father? I slowly walked over to the table not wanting to get hit with the switch again, but to my surprise my mother just looked up at me with gloomy eyes  and said, “Hey there Cid.” I stared at her.
“Mother…what’s the matter?” I asked
“Papa’s very angry again,” Lawny mumbled stirring her spoon in her bowl of soup. “He left us.”
I looked back at mother. “But…he is coming back…isn’t he? He always comes back!”
Mother just looked at me. “Not this time sweetie, it isn’t that easy.” I looked down at our wooden floor. Nothing was easy anymore. My father left me, his thirteen-year-old daughter. Why? I have no idea. Mother never told me why they’d fight.
I felt tears running down my cheeks. I didn’t want to cry, I wanted to be strong for Lawny; but I couldn’t. I was weak, not strong like mother. I was ten times more sensitive than her and I always act like a little girl; a ninny, that’s what I was.
I nodded understandingly and walked to the door.
“I think I’m going to need some fresh air…I’ll be back.” I told mother.
I ran outside letting my auburn, curly hair fly behind me. I flew past some trees and houses. I could smell the scent of fall everywhere. I sat down under my favorite Oak tree, the one that had the most unique patterned truck I’ve ever seen, pulled my legs to my chest, put my head down, and cried.
How could my life turn to dust in a matter of minutes? How is that possible? My mother would always say, “Everything happens for a reason” but I never understood.
…I must be the most pathetic teenager in Massachusetts. I’ve failed my sister. I’m not the rock that she sees in me. I’m more like…pencil shavings…gross.
“Hey, what’s the matter Cid?” Jonathan asked, jumping down from my favorite tree. But I didn’t feel like being a ninny right now so I just turned away.
“Alright then…you don’t have to say anything…I’ll just go.” Jonathan began to walk away when I decided to stop him by saying:
“It isn’t fair.”
Jonathan turned to look at me.
“What’s not fair?” He asked.
I told him everything. About when I moved here from Pennsylvania two years ago to my mother and father’s fights. It felt good get all of my emotions and frustrations out. Jonathan actually hugged me at the end of my little speech!
“I’m sorry,” He told me. “Your father must’ve meant a lot to you.”
I looked at his beautiful royal blue eyes. “Yeah, he did.”

I'm not finished with this chapter but i decided just to put up what i have so far

*September 25, 1691*

A week later I felt terrible! My nose was runny, my head throbbed, and I could of sworn I thought I heard bombs going off in my stomach; ouch! I didn’t want to get out of bed let alone do all of my daily chores! …Maybe I could force Lawny into doing them for me…I sighed. No, I mustn’t, Lawny has gone through enough last week. I couldn’t possibly force her to do anything under her conditions. She was a wreck and so was I. Mother was too of course. She began to pace back and forth, mumble words under her breath. She had long lines under her eyes making her seem ten-years-older than she really was and she didn’t seem to care for herself as much as she used to. What she needs is my help.
I forced my lazy self off my bed and into my drawers. I grabbed my clothes for the day and set them on a nearby chair. I smelt underneath my arms and made a face of disgust. ‘I better wash up’ I told myself walking over to the pantry to get the wooden bathtub. I placed it in the middle of my small bedroom, grabbed the bucket that was in the tub, and walking back to the kitchen I boiled water that I got from the well to serve as my bath water.
Once my toe touched the hot water goose bumps traveled up my body; I didn’t think it was that hot! I took a deep breath and forced myself into the boiling hot water to wash up.
After my bath I brushed my long curly, auburn hair and tied it into a tight bun with a blue satin ribbon, pulled on my white and light-blue laced dress, and placed my bonnet securely on top of my head. ‘There, I’m ready for today’s work, and I actually feel quite better after that bath!’ I told myself smiling.
“Cindy, it’s time to do your chores.” Susanna, my mother called out.
“Coming mother!” I answered. I quickly glanced at myself in the mirror; I never know when Jonathan’s going to see me! I turned around and went to take a step out of my bedroom.
“Oh,” I cried out looking at the ground. I almost stepped on Oliver, my orange and slightly chubby cat. “Oliver, do watch were you are going!” Of course he didn’t even look at me when I was talking, he was too busy eyeing a little grey mouse in the left corner of my room that fat cat! If I were Oliver I would probably be thinking about food constantly; mice as my favorite meal. That would be almost least likely. I love every animal on earth! I looked over at Oliver as his body tensed and tail waving waiting for the right time to pounce. But to his surprise just as he jumped up to grab the little mouse with his claws, the mouse dodged to the right making Oliver slam into the wall. I couldn’t help but laugh. I don’t think Oliver has caught one mouse in the last 2 years! And my mother refers to him as the “King of all mouse catchers”! Ha, good one mother!
I walked out of my bedroom and into the kitchen. I smiled at the smell of fresh corn bread that Bridget, our cook, was taking out of the oven.
“Good morning Miss Cindy Martin.,” Bridget greeted as she placed the corn bread on the table.
Bridget had bright orange, curly hair that was usually tied up in a green ribbon to bring out the color in her eyes. A bonnet was usually fastened around her chin covering up most of her hair besides the few strands that were dangling just above her eyes and her skin was a porcelain color although her cheeks where pink; she was really pretty and was one of my best friends besides Abby and Lizzie.
“Good morning to you too Bridget,” I said smiling. “Oh, look its Daniel!” I said pointing behind her.
“Where,” She cried looking the other way.
I went to pick up the biggest piece of cornbread from the tray but I guess it must have been the hottest one too! I dropped it back on the pan and screamed, “Ouch!”
Bridget looked back and gave me an “I know what you where trying to do” look. “That’s what you get Cindy, as you know stealing is an abomination.” She scolded. I sighed. “Please don’t say that, It’s hard enough having one Susanna Martin around this house.”

Thanks guys!
I haven't really thought about this story a lot recently so I need to finish that chapter and try to figure out what to write next so. It's a historical fiction story so you kinda have to have an idea what it's all about and figure out how it's gonna go in order! LOL So I'm not quite sure when I'll be updating this but i will. I just don't know when.
