It was a warm spring day in Oakland, California. The wind was  
settle, blowing gently over the fushia pink flowers that just
began to bloom. Kids were playing in the cold, wet water, mothers were going on walks pushing their baby's stroller along the sidewalk, and families spent thier time at the zoo, gazing at the different kinds of animals in their cages. Little kids were everywhere in Oakland. Some were in a long line to get icecream, some were at the playground swinging as they laughed, and others were playing tag in the field. But many were at the park. Older kids were talking to their friends, younger kids were on the merry go round and teeter-totter.

 This was where Billie Joe Armstrong was. No, not the teeter-totter! He was sitting on one of those brown wooden benches, watching his children Joey, Jakob, and Audrey play. Joey at the age of sixteen was sitting on the swing talking to his girlfriend Vanessa that was on the swing next to him, and Jakob, thirteen, was pushing Audrey, five, on the merry go round.

 Audrey was a short and cute little girl. She was the perfect combination of Billie Joe and her mother Adrienne. She had Adrienne's black hair, Billie's curls, Adrienne's lips, Billie's jade green eyes, Adrienne's nose, and Billie's eyebrows and attitude. She also had Billie's love for music in her heart. Not like Joey or Jakob. She was really smart for her age and had a great sense of humor. Her hero was her father of whom she had a special bond with. You could almost never catch them apart. You could say that she was daddy's little girl.

 Jakob was a eighth grader at Laney Middle School. He was a pretty good student and had A's and B's. He looks more like his mother than his father. Black hair that was now blonde, her round face and her deep brown eyes. He had a good relationship with his siblings even though he would fight with them sometimes, espeically Audrey since she was so young. He was more used to Joey so they rarely fought. When they did fight it would be about them taking each other's CD's or something like that. Jakob was the momma's boy who would often come to his mothe for comfort about anything from a paper cut to a real tradgety like if someone close to him dies.

 And Joey, who recently has his sweet sixteen in March, was the oldest, the wisest, and the cockiest towards Billie Joe. He was getting at the age where he just wanted to be left alone and he often wanted to go to places like the mall and football games. He's a sophmore at Pinole Valley High School where his father went when he was young. Joey was mostly like his father. He was short-tempered, stubborn, sacastic, and cocky. This was probably the reason why he and his father fought all the time; they were too much alike. Joey has his good traits also. He's generous, kind to others, and behaves well....in public...sometimes.

 Billie never approved of Vanessa. She was slutty, mean,  
and...well...stupid! She always bosses Joey around and demands for everything to stuffed animals to $1,000 pieces of jewlery. At this rate Joey's never gonna get enough money to go to college. Billie's not paying for it. He believes that people should earn their own money. He's done tons of things to try to get rid of her. Most of it he pins it on Joey hoping that Vanessa brakes up with him. He's tried being the most annoying person in the world and he's tried being the most nerdiest person in the world. But nothing seemed to work. Every one of the Armstrong's hated Vanessa. Audrey, Jakob, Adrienne, and Billie Joe. Even Joey admits her to be annoying as hell sometimes.

 "Daddy?" Little Audrey replied getting up on the bench  tapping Billie's shoulder. Billie looked over at her and smiled. "What is it baby girl?"
Baby Girl. It was one of Billie's nicknames he gave to Audrey along with "Teddy Bear" and "Cookie Monster".
"Can we go home now?" She asked in her cute baby voice.
"Don't you wanna play more? It's a pretty day." Billie answered. Audrey laid her head on her daddy's shoulder. "I'm tired of playing."
Billie looked at his watch. "Well, it is supposed to be your nap time and mommy's probably back from the store," He looked over at Joey and Jakob. "Come on guys, it's time to go. Joey, say goodbye to Vanessa." Joey rolled his eyes and gave Vanessa a hug and a kiss. "I love you." He replied with a smile.
"Love you too Joey."

 
 Billie walked into his beautiful house. The smell of seasoning filling the room. He knew that smell. It was the smell of Adrienne's wonderful cooking in the kitchen. He walked up to Adrienne who was preparing supper and smiled. She was so beautiful! Those deep brown eyes and beautiful red lips. He stood there for a moment, hypnotised by her beauty. She was humming the song 2,000 light years away, the song Billie wrote for her years ago after their first kiss. He put his arms around her. He could sense her smiling; he didn't have to look to know. He heard her laugh and his heart started to pound faster.
"Hey baby," Adrienne said in her sweet voice. "You're back!" Adrienne turned around and gave Billie a kiss on the lips.
Billie smiled. "Love you baby."
"Love you too." Adrienne and Billie gave each other a hug and Adrienne went back to making supper.
"Daddy," Audrey called tugging on Billie's pant leg. Billie looked down and smiled. "What?"
"What is this?" She asked holding up a cross necklace. Billie raised an eyebrow and took it from Audrey's hands. It's the necklace. Billie stared at it. 'This is really special. It's been passed down to all Lawndale's' He heard this in his head. It was her's; Audrey's. Not Audrey Armstrong's, Audrey Lawndale. 'This is really special. It's been passed down to all Lawndale's' It reapeated in his head. At first it was faint but then it got louder. 'This is really special. It's been passed down to all Lawndale's' Billie felt like the room was spinning. He felt faint. His heart was pounding faster and faster and faster then suddenly it stopped and Billie collapsed to the floor, the necklace still in his hands.

Chapter 2
"I see dead people..."

 Billie woke up unaware of his surrondings. At first he was in his kitchen and now he's....in the hospital??
"What happened?" He asked himself as he rubbed his eyes. He looked around the room. It was kinda small. There was a couple if seats to his left that sat there empty and there were chairs to his right. Adrienne, Joey, and Jakob were sleeping in their own chair. Billie smiled but then it turned into a frown. Where was Audrey? Billie looked around frantically but then he looked down see little Audrey with her arms on his stomach sleeping. He smiled and moved Audrey's hair over to keep it from her eyes. He put his hand on her cheek and felt wetness. She was crying before she fell asleep. He smiled and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"She's pretty." An oddly familiar voice said. Billie looked over to his left to find a little girl...her hair was up in a pink hair tie, she had big brown eyes, a white hair clip on the side of her hair and a flowery dress. It couldn't be.
"A-Audrey?"
Audrey nodded then looked over at Billie's daughter. "She's pretty, I feel sorry for her."
Billie raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Audrey smirked. "You'll see, but for now I think you better be getting up."
"Huh?" Billie asked confused. Suddenly he felt his heart pounding...pounding...pounding. His heart twisted. "Ahh!" He cried shaking violently on his hospital bed.
"Mr. Armstrong," The nurse called trying to make him stop. "Mr. Armstrong!"
"Ahh!" Billie cried out in pain. What was happening to him? He could hear the heart monitor beat faster and faster. Was he having another heart attack? Audrey Armstrong was sitting in a corner crying. "What's wrong with daddy?" She asked. Adrienne looked at her, her eyes wet from srying also. "I don't know." SHe answered truthfully. Doctor's came rushing in and injected a liquid inside him with a needle. Billie began to calm down. His breathing became nornmal. He was okay for now. Billie looked over at Audrey and smiled. He held his arms out for her. Audrey ran to him sobing.
"It's okay baby girl," Billie assured her. "It's okay."

 Billie's good at lying to his children, really good. He didn't like it, but it was something he had to do. Tell her everything's gonna be alright when he knows it's not. What was he supposed to say? 'I'm sorry Audrey but your daddy's dying?' No, he wasn't. That would make everything worse. Billie gave Audrey a kiss on the forehead. It was only  dream. Billie told himself. It was just a dream. Audrey's been dead for five years. Billie felt tears roll down his cheeks from thinking about her. He remembered her. He remembers meeting her at the park. How cute and friendly she was and how he later found out that she had leukemia. She couldn't of turned into this. She couldn't turn into anything! She's dead.... He looked over at the counter beside him. There lay the white hair clip that was in Audrey's hair. ...or is she?

 Billie came back home a week later after the doctor's stated that he was okay. Now he has to take medicine everyday and he hated medicine...especially the taste! Billie walked into the living room to find Joey and Vanessa sitting on the couch watching a movie about...penguins. Before Joey started dating Vanessa he didn't even like penguins! Billie looked at the TV. A penguin jumped off a hill and into the water.
"Oh my gosh baby! This movie is so fake! Penguin's can fly you know! Jeez!"
Billie rolled his eyes. Like he's been saying to Joey ever since they started dating; she's stupid! Billie walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle that contained his medicine. All the sudden he heard a echoing voice repeating in his head. 'She's pretty..pretty..pretty' She's pretty..pretty..pretty' He heard a little girl laugh. 'She's pretty, I feel sorry for her..her..her.' He heard the girl laugh again.
"Stop!" He pleaded clutching his head. "Stop!" But it kept repeating ignoring his crys. 'She's pretty..pretty..pretty.' 'She's pretty..pretty..pretty.' A little girl laughed. 'She's pretty, i feel sorry for her..her..her.' She laughed again.
"Please stop!" He cried. "STOP!" Everything grew silent for a moment.
"Are you sure you want it to stop?"
Billie's eyes grew large. He turned around. It was her; Audrey Lawndale. She smiled at him.
"You fell for it didn't you?" She replied walking closer to him. "You thought it was a dream." She was now about one foot away from. "But it isn't...now anyway. This is really happening see?" She touched his arm. "I'm alive. I'm your new daughter."
Billie gave her a confused look. "W--what do you mean?"
"All i have to say is.......Where is your daughter?"
Billie's heart skipped a beat. "What did you do to her?"
Audrey smirked. "Why don't you go find out for yourself?"
Billie ran upstairs. "Audrey!" He cried. "Audrey!" Joey and Vanessa gave each other a confused look and followed him.
"Audrey!" He cried running into her room. He looked frantically for her but then stopped when he looked in her closet. There layed Audrey Armstrong on the floor.

Chapter 3:
"Fear is only in our minds, taking over all the time"  

"AUDREY!" Billie jumped out of bed startled. His breathing was heavy. He looked to his right to see Adrienne in the bed sleeping. Billie ran to Audrey's room. "Audrey," He cried waking her up. "Audrey!"
Audrey opened her eyes and looked at her father. "What's wrong daddy?"
Billie smiled and gave her a hug. "Nothing." He kissed her on the forehead. "Go back to sleep." Billie went to walk out of her room when he heard her say: "Daddy?"
Billie walked over to her and smiled. "Yes baby girl."
"You never told me what that necklace was." She said. Billie smiled weakly. "I'll tell you all about it tomorrow, how's that?"
Audrey nodded. "Love you daddy."
Billie smiled and gave her a kiss. "Love you too Audrey." What Billie didn't know was there wasn't gonna be another tomorrow for a while.

 All the sudden Billie was at the park. He didn't know how he got there. He was just...there!
"Hey Daddy!" A voice called out. "Come and play with me!" Somehow those words frightened him. It was like someone was haunting him. "Come and Play with me daddy..daddy..daddy" It echoed. "Come on! It will be fun!" It was foggy out. He could barely see anything. The swings were rocking back and forth without anyone on them. He heard little kids laughing as if they were playing in the park. "Daddy! Come and play!" It sounded like Audrey, his daughter.
"Audrey! Where are you?" Billie shouted.
"Over here!" She called. Billie turned around and saw Audrey Lawndale right in front of him. She had on her hospital nightgown. It was all dirty and tore. Her hair was matted and short, she was barefoot, she had blak lines around her eyes, and she was dirty; really dirty.
"No....not you....not again." Billie cried.
Suddenly she disapeared. "Over here daddy!" He heard. He turned around and Audrey Lawndale was in front of him again. Billie jumped back. It was like a game to her. A sick game.
Suddenly everything around him went a blur. He could still hear those cruel words ringing in his ears. "Over here daddy!" "Over here daddy!"

 Now he was in Audrey's room again. He looked over at her closet. There he saw Audrey standing over his daughter. His daughter was crying. "Daddy!" She cried. "Daddy!" "Help!"
"Audrey!" Billie Joe cried.
Audrey Lawndale touched his daughter and then she colapsed.
"No Audrey!" Billie cried. "What did you do to her?"
Audrey Lawndale looked at her hands. She touched her hands then her face. Billie saw her smile to herself. She couldn't hear him.
Billie tried to cry out his daughter's name again but nothing came out. His voice was gone. He fell to his knees and began to cry. He looked up and saw himself look for his daughter then finding her by her closet. He heard himself cry her name and everything around him turned black.

 "Is daddy gonna be okay?" Audrey asked looking up at her mother. She looked down at Audrey and smiled. "He'll be okay."
"Phsst! Yeah right! He's been in a coma for a month!" Joey grumbled.
"JOSEPH MARCIANO AMRSTRONG!" Adriene shouted. "That's enough!"
Audrey looked up at her mother. "Mommy, what's a coma?"
Adrienne gave Audrey a weak smile then gave Joey a 'wait until we get home' look.
"Just don't worry about daddy kay?" Adrienne told Audrey.
"Okay, all I know is he better wake up soon! He never explained to me what that necklace was!"
Adrienne smiled and looked at Billie.
"He'll wake up, trust me."

Chapter 4
"Don't deny...Sweet Sacrifice"


 Billie suddenly found hinself in a cemetary. It was foggy out just like it was at the park. The wind was blowing so hard you could hear it, several spots of purple, blue, and black were in the sky, and it was really cold. Billie looked around but couldn't really see anything. At first he didn't know where he was, but now he knew.
"Daddy over here!" A voice whispered. "I'm over here!"
Billie eyes widened. "Audrey?"
"Daddy!" He heard a little girl laugh. Billie looked around and followed the sound.
"Yes, daddy, over here!"
Billie walked closer and closer and closer. His heart was pounding fast. He had to find his daughter. He had too! Now he was in front of a headstone. He sat in the grass in front of it and rubbed off the dust on the headstone. Billie squinted at the words.

                 Audrey Armstrong
          February 7, 2006-April 20, 2012
             Cause of Death: Leukemia

Billie gasped at the words. "W-what? Leu-leukemia?" He didn't understand! Audrey, his daughter, didn't have leukemia! Billie began to cry. This couldn't be happening. It had to be a dream!
"Audrey!" Billie cried. "Audrey!"
"You called?" A voice asked.
Billie looked up. There sat Audrey Lawndale on the headstone behind his daughter's.
"What do you want?" Billie cried. "What do you want?"
"I want to be your daughter." She answered. "Didn't we have the daughter father bond Billie?"
"Y--yes, but you wern't my daughter!" Billie cried.
"I did give you that necklace didn't I?" Audrey asked.
"Yes." Billie answered tears still in his eyes.
"See? That means were family." Audrey said with a sneer. "I'll be the daughter you never used to have and you'll be the father that I never had."
"But---I." Billie stuttered. He didn't know what to say. How could this sweet little girl turn evil? How? All he ever did was love Audrey. He named his daughter after her for goodness sake!
"I--I love you Audrey," Billie cried. "But you're not my daughter."
Audrey gave him a dirty look. She was mad; really mad. Suddenly Billie felt the ground shake. Audrey Armstrong's headstone split in the middle. Billie looked around. The deceased were coming up from the dead. He heard his daughter cry, "Daddy!" "Daddy!" "Help!"
Billie began to cry again. "Audrey!"

 Everything around him disappeared. Now he was at the zoo. He could see himself look around. A little girl ran up to him. It was Audrey Lawndale.
"Come on daddy! Let's go see the tiger's!" She shouted happily.
"Alright Audrey, let's go!" He heard himself say. 'What am I doing!' Billie told himself as he watched. 'She isn't my daughter!'
"Stop!" Billie cried to himself. "Stop!" They couldn't hear him. He watched in horror as he saw himself and Audrey walk through the park. He watched them get icecream together. Audrey was pointing at the kind of icecream she wanted. He saw himself nod and tell the owner what she wanted. Audrey was dressed in that same flowery dress, her hair pulled up in a pink hair tie except the white hair clip wasn't there. He watched Audrey lick her icecream and then they vanished.
"Noooo!" Billie cried. Where did they go? He looked around but didn't see them. They were gone. Both of them.

 "Mrs. Armstrong," Dr. Schultz called out peering through the door.
"Yes?" Adrienne answered.
"Can I talk to you in privite for a moment please?" He asked.
Adrienne nodded. "Kids, you behave in here got it?"
All three of them nodded.
"We will mommy." Audrey said smiling.
Adrienne smiled back at her. "It'll only take a second." Adrienne got out of her seat and followed the doctor.
"Sit down please." The doctor said refeering to the chair that sat in the hallway. Adrienne nodded and sat down.
"It seems that your husband Billie Joe has been in a coma for two months," The doctor said gently.
Adrienne looked at him. "Yes? And?"
The doctor looked at her. "And," he said. "We don't think he's gonna wake up--"
Adrienne stood up. "NO! You can't!" She cried. "You can't pull the plug!"
"We're very sorry Mrs. Armstrong," The doctor said. "But we have no choice, he's showing no signs of recovery."
Tears started to fall down Adrienne's cheeks. "Two weeks," She said. "Please, give it two more weeks!"
The doctor shook his head. "I'm sorry, but it's something we have to do."

Chapter 5:"I dream in darkness...I sleep to die."

 Billie felt hopeless. He didn't know what to do. His daughter was done...forever. How could this happen to him? How? What did he do to deserve this? He loved Audrey Lawndale and he loved his daughter! He loved his baby girl more than anything else in the world and now she was gone! Billie tried to think about just what was happening. He was sitting down somewhere. He didn't know where he was. Everything was pitch black. He rubbed his temples with his fingers. 'What's happening to me? Why am a here?' He asked himself. Suddenly Billie saw light. He squinted at it for a moment.
"What's going on?" He asked himself.
"Wake up..up..up." Said a echoing voice. "Please! Wake up Billie..Billie..Billie." He heard a woman crying.
"Adrienne?" Billie asked himself. Why was she crying? Suddenly he found himself in his room in the hospital. He saw Adrienne put her arms around his body crying. He looked over. He saw himself lying in the bed. The heart monitor was beating normally. He looked to his left. There was.....Audrey! Billie's eyes widened.
"Audrey!" he cried. "Audrey!"
She was crying also. he looked to his right again. There stood a doctor with sissors in his hands. He was about to...pull the plug! Billie suddenly knew what was happening. He was in a coma!
"Billie! Please wake up..up..up"
The doctor was almost there.......
"Ahhh!" Billie cried opening his eyes.
Adrienne was shocked. "Dr. Schultz! Stop! He woke up!"
The doctor stopped and looked at Billie. "Oh my god!"
Billie looked over at Adrienne and smiled. "Hey,"
Adrienne smiled at him with tears running down her face. "Hey baby!"
Billie laughed and wiped her tears away. "Don't cry. You know I hate it when you cry."
Adrienne laughed. "I missed you!" She put her arms around him and began to sob. Billie began to rub her back. "It's okay Adie!"
Adrienne smiled and gave him a kiss on the lips.
"Ewwwwww!" Audrey said. "Gross!"
Adrienne and Billie laughed.
Audrey walked over to her daddy. "It's about time you woke up! You still didn't explain to me what this necklace was!" Audrey held up the cross.
Billie smiled. "I'll tell you all about it tonight, how's that?"
Audrey smiled. "Okay!"
Billie laughed at how silly she was. "Come here baby girl!" He gave Audrey a hug. He missed her so much and he was glad that she was okay. "I love you." he said. "I love you so much." Tears started to fall down his cheeks. He didn't care if he cried.
He loved his family. He loved his life.

 Billie was driving one afternoon with Audrey in the backseat. This was one month later after he had woken up from his coma. He was driving her home from school.
"Daddy?" Audrey asked as she fiddled with the hem of her shirt.
"Huh?"
"Were you hibernating?"
Billie laughed. "What?"
"You know, it's what animals do."
Billie laughed again. "what are you talking about?"
Audrey sighed. "When you were sleeping all that time. Were you hibernating?"
Billie couldn't stop laughing. "Yes Audrey, I was hibernating."
It grew silent for a moment. "So your an animal? Does that mean I'm an animal?"
"No Audrey, I'm not." Billie said smiling.
"Oh, okay."
Billie began to drive in silence when all the sudden an image of Audrey Lawndale appeared in front of his car. She had on her hospital night gown, her hair was matted and short, Her nightgown was dirty and torn, and she was looking straight at him with dark eyes.
"Ahh!" Billie crying swerving over to the opposite lane. He was now in front of a red car. The car honked their horn as Billie went back to his lane and stopped.
"Daddy, what happened?" Audrey asked from the backseat.
Billie looked up and saw Audrey Lawndale in front of him. She looked at him with gleaming eyes and said:
"Yes daddy, what happened?"
